RAS SMAILA “TRUE STORY” "Welcome inna world of Afro Freakin Funky Kosmic Soul n' Blues! No ism, just riddim!" So says Ras Smaila, introducing his latest album, "TRUE STORY", released in the UK and throughout Europe on the French DixieFrog label. Singer - guitarist - composer - producer Ras is originally from the Nigerian Yoruba tribe, but for several years has been based in Paris where he now fronts his own brilliant 8 piece band. Although steeped in the Blues, the influences on “True Story” also draw from Rock, African Rhythms, Funk and soul. The album features 14 striking new tracks, eleven written by Ras himself, plus there's a startling version of Jimi Hendrix's "Stone Free", a heartfelt reworking of Robert Johnson's "Cross Road" and a labour of love on "Zombie" by Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Formed in 2004, James Deans Car were originally an electric blues/rock band. More recently they've become known for their acoustic section, which they have expanded into a complete evenings entertainment. With a mix of Delta blues, with songs from Robert Johnson, to B.B.King classics and their own original material, the band features electro acoustic guitars and bass, with a cut down drum kit of just snare and cymbal means the band can also play the smallest of gigs.

Backroads is that little ol"e band from Wilson,Ok. Backroads consist of four members, and have been together for about fifteen years. On vocals is Randy Hacker. Jim Mcgaughy Carries the guitar lead for Backroads. Holding the bottom end of Backroads together is Miles Goode on bass, and David Parker on the drum kit. Backroads is real music about real people trying to make it in the real world.
